Describe what you do at DataLink - in your own words
As a data engineer, I work with a dedicated and knowledgeable team to create and maintain data pipelines that fuel our reports, modules, and other areas of the Evoke360 application.
What do you like most about DataLink?
What I like most about DataLink is the people. As DataLink has grown, we’ve managed to keep the feeling of a tight-knit family, which isn’t easy. Each member of the DataLink team has been willing and eager to share their vast knowledge and experience in an atmosphere that fosters diversity of thought and instills a drive to do better each day.

How do you put this value to work in your worklife?
In every call or meeting, I make sure to set aside a few minutes to talk about non-work-related subjects. I find this helps to create and foster relationships, and helps us all to work better together.
What makes you feel most valued at DataLink?
My managers and my team. They provide guidance and propel me forward. They listen to what I have to say and truly collaborate to solve the issues at hand. In short, they make it known that we’re all part of a well-functioning team.
What has been the best part about working at DataLink?
Not to sound like a broken record, but, again, it’s the people. From all levels, professionalism and compassion are front and center. Even through the largely remote nature of our workday, my co-workers have helped me to feel not so remote. I’m quite lucky to be surrounded by such great people.
How have you grown at DataLink?
I’ve grown in many ways here at DataLink. I’ve learned more about the medical industry and the Medicare system. I’ve grown in my technical skills by having a team of talented programmers who are eager to share their skills and knowledge. I’ve grown in my personal life by forging friendships with co-workers, and working with people of vastly different cultures, helping to expand my perspective in many facets of life.
How has DataLink helped you in your career development?
DataLink’s helped by staying current with technology and providing us with training on all of the new technologies. At DataLink, I’ve been able to hone my skills in current technologies, while keeping up with new programs that can help solve more problems in more elegant and efficient ways. The skills I have acquired, and continue to acquire every day, will continue to help me in my career for years to come.

In life there’s a fine line between tragedy and comedy, and I’d rather cry with laughter than sorrow.
If you could have any superpower what would it be and why?
To be able to shrink like Ant-Man. After reading G.K. Chesterton, I realize how much wonder there is in the natural world, specifically the small things. I love walking around my yard and taking time to look closely into the nooks and crannies of the trees and grass and plants. There’s a lot going on down there and to be able to explore your backyard as if it were an alien forest would just be cool.
What is your favorite line from a movie and why?
“Aim for the bushes?” – “The Other Guys”. This line is my favorite because of its absurdity. Samuel Jackson says it to Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, right before making a leap off a very large building (there are no bushes). It’s become a running joke whenever someone wants to do something that they shouldn’t. Like letting the kids have Mountain Dew after 9 p.m. “Aim for the bushes?”
Tell us about your favorite travel spot and why you like to go there
Willow Winds in Asheville, North Carolina. It’s nestled in the Blue Ridge mountains, about 10 minutes from the Biltmore House, and right on Blue Ridge Parkway. My family has been going to this area since before I was born, and my first visit I was only two months old. The landscape is beautiful, the air feels majestic, and it just feels timeless.
What is your favorite book recommendation and why?
“Frankenstein” or “The Modern Prometheus” by Mary Shelley. The story is far more complex than the movies. It shows the hubris of man, creating life without a mother. The creature is like man in many ways but lacks the spark of the divine, a soul. Yet the monster is tormented by his loneliness when Frankenstein refuses to create a wife for him. The monster then promises to take all that Frankenstein loves away from him. It’s tragic, chilling, and just all-around great writing.
