The Future of Tracking COVID-19 Encounter Data

DataLink assists health plans, providers and their partners with solutions to improve patient care and simplify healthcare navigation. During this time of global crisis, it is imperative that provider communication across the healthcare ecosystem remains transparent as the country fights the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Effective October 1, 2020, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) will implement a new ICD-10-CM diagnosis code for the 2019 novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The establishment of a new ICD-10-CM code for COVID-19 is consistent with the World Health Organization’s (WHO) recent creation of an emergency ICD-10 code (code U07.1). In ICD-11, the code for COVID-19 would be RA01.0.

When a patient encounter occurs, in-person, virtually, or in the home, and the progress note is coded for COVID-19 in an electronic health record (EHR), Evoke360 can seamlessly eliminate the normal claims lag of 60-90 days by capturing the code from the provider’s EHR and making it visible in the platform within 24 hours.

Evoke360 and COVID-19

Evoke360 solution was built with the foundational principles of helping proactively manage a healthcare entity’s population relative to quality, utilization and documentation of conditions. Out of the box, our comprehensive solution provides summarized and member-level detailed insights that allow providers and large organizations to act at the macro level and the point of care.

This includes real-time feeds for admits, discharges, transfers (ADTs) and emergency visits, as well as pharmacy, labs and claims. With the combination of over 20 years of experience in the healthcare industry and the flexibility of our solution, we have been able to meet the needs of our customers in this evolving landscape.

We have created engines that provide predictive and suspecting analytics that allow users to act prospectively versus 60-90 days after an event has occurred. By sequencing trends of similar events, labs, pharmacy, vitals and history of conditions, Evoke360 can create flags to notify an organization to take action before an adverse event occurs.

This is an enormous improvement over the traditional methods of faxes, large Excel downloads, engagement personnel and non-payer agnostic joint operating committee meetings. Our payer agnostic solution breaks these barriers by offering real-time data that can integrate within the EHR.

Access Data in the Virtual World

As the healthcare community scrambles for accurate, timely and remote solutions amid the COVID-19 pandemic, our fully web-based and smartphone-friendly application, Evoke360, can provide all the information you are looking for from the safety of your virtual care location. Using our proprietary suspecting engines, we are working to follow trends and best practices to help you identify and proactively manage your population while notifying you in real-time of any flagged inpatient event.
