Meet Gary Siconolfi Jr!

Describe what you do at DataLink - in your own words

As a technical quality assurance analyst, I perform manual functional testing and data validation for various complex projects, primarily within the Evoke360 platform. I create test plans based on acceptance criteria and communicate across teams to ensure quality results are achieved, or defects are created and prioritized effectively. I’ve supervised and participated in creating large regression test suites for automation. I assist other teams as needed by using informal training and knowledge sharing discussions.

What do you like most about DataLink?

I’m grateful to work for a company that values having a team of remote workers who are trusted to maintain accountability to their roles and responsibilities. Being able to contribute to a team while maintaining a work-life balance is a rewarding aspect of working for DataLink.

Which DataLink value is your favorite? and Why?

Celebrate Our Differences
Working with people from diverse backgrounds can foster a collaborative environment where everyone grows together by working together.

How do you put this value to work in your worklife?

By being open to other points of view and experiences when resolving issues or discussing solutions. Meeting people where they are is important. When approached by my peers to answer a question, I do my best to understand where they’re coming from so I can better assist in a collaborative way, based on the understanding that everyone thinks differently and therefore learns differently.

What makes you feel most valued at DataLink?

After 10 years with DataLink, I feel most valued when my peers or supervisors reach out to ask for my opinion or ideas. Having spent a long time with the company in various roles and teams, it’s rewarding to know that others see me as a valuable team player, whose opinions and ideas are worth hearing. I often hear people express gratitude for my contributions.

What has been the best part about working at DataLink?

One of the best parts of working at DataLink is the flexibility that comes with remote work and a sensible PTO policy. The ability to balance my work and home life is an asset to me, allowing me to complete my work effectively and with minimal outside distractions. The truly best aspect of working for DataLink is the people who work here, and the positive, fun attitudes they present when working together.

How have you grown at DataLink?

Starting out with the support/IT team in 2014 was like a free education that took me from having minimal technical or industry experience, to knowing how to write complex SQL queries for data validation, and understanding various aspects of our company’s technologies and the healthcare industry we serve. My confidence has grown over my time with the company, and I no longer feel intimidated by complex issues or projects, even if there is a learning curve to adapt to.

How has DataLink helped you in your career development?

I’ve worked in various departments across the organization. As a Helpdesk technician, product support manager, technical analyst, product owner / SCRUM master, and my current role as technical quality assurance analyst. I’ve been able to learn new skills and use each position as a building block for the next phase of my professional development.

In your 10 years with DataLink, how have you seen the company evolve for the better?

In the last 10 years this company has grown exponentially in terms of workforce, client base, and product offerings. With this growth, we’ve achieved a much better collaborative environment where people across teams can contribute to our success. By moving to a remote/hybrid workforce, we’ve been able to hire qualified people across various regions, who we otherwise may not have had the benefit of working with. All these things create an opportunity to grow even more and achieve new goals.

A little about you...

Do you have a nickname?

Charles, Chuckles, Chuck. There are many. Josh Hetler sometimes calls me “G-Unit” haha.

Please provide us with a personal quote.

Nothing worth doing comes easy.

How did you first learn about DataLink

My brother-in-law worked for the company and told me about a job opening with the support/IT team.

What has been your favorite project at DataLink?

My favorite project at DataLink was when I was working as a product owner with the EvokeEHR platform to integrate member eligibility validation APIs into the platform by simply clicking a button within the member profile or appointment modals. The project was very complex and lasted several weeks to complete.

If you had to tell your 15-year-old self one thing, what would it be?

Don’t be afraid to try new things and reach outside of your comfort zone.

Do you recall any embarrassing moment at work?

There was a recent occasion where I flagged an issue for the sorting in one of our reports. I told the developer that the sort wasn’t in the correct order. He pointed out to me that 21-13 = 8, not 7 as I indicated originally. It may seem trivial, but it was an embarrassing experience that reminded me to take my time and to be humble enough to admit when I’m wrong.
