Describe what you do at Datalink – in your own words

I mostly work with Onboarding, Termination, Benefits and Payroll processing. I also manage ADP, process performance reviews, perform anniversary check-ins and other various tasks throughout the day. We all have our hands in a little bit of everything and pitch in where we are needed.

What do you like most about Datalink?

I love that Datalink feels like a family.

Why is this value your favorite?

I think it’s important to love what you do; teamwork & engagement are essential to being happy in the workplace. When you engage with others, there are more opportunities to grow.

How do you put this value to work in your worklife?

I love engaging with the other team members. I learn something every day, whether it is within my role or what someone else does for the company.

What makes you feel most valued at DataLink?

When I receive Teams messages from team members to just say hi or check-in. Those messages always make me feel like I am doing my job well.

What has been the best part about working at DataLink?

My HR Team of Course! I love the team I work with. We are so diverse but work together so well. We support each other every step of the way and I love that.

How have you grown at DataLink?

Not sweating the small stuff and knowing it’s ok to make mistakes. It’s constant work but I’m learning no to be so hard on myself.

How has Datalink helped you in your career development?

I am currently working on my HR Certification and the support I have received has been tremendous. The constant support and motivation I get has helped me grow not only as a person but within my role.

Do you have a nickname?

I have been called so many various names Lilstuff, Lilbit, Tator Tot & Polly Pocket to name a few – you know, all the short girl nicknames.

How did you first learn about Datalink

I learned about Datalink from one of my best friends, Hortencia Gomez. We were partners at our previous place of employment. Once she started working for the company, she was always telling me about how much she loved working here and that she was going to take me with her. I was in school to finish my MBA in HR and once I finished school, it just happened that Datalink was looking for someone in HR!

Do you recall any embarrassing moment at work?

I was a Senior Assistant Director at Saint Leo University, and I was visiting a high school for a college fair. We were all waiting outside of the cafeteria to go in to set up for a college fair while the lunchroom emptied, and they were cleaning up. A student decided to throw his mashed potatoes he was eating in the trash can and missed. It bounced off the trash can and flung all over the place and landed all over me and my work bag in front of all of the other college counselors and military recruiters. Not my favorite moment.

Tell us about your favorite travel spot and why you like to go there

Hawaii. I have traveled to many places in my life, but Hawaii has my heart. I was blessed to be able to go for work and traveled all by myself. It was scary but also a moment of growth for me. I had college fairs on 4 islands and got to Island hop and see a little of Kauai, Honolulu, Maui, and The Big Island. The sense of peace the Islands have is indescribable. Because of the time difference I saw every sunset and every sunrise. I cried when I had to leave. My goal is to one day go back for an actual vacation.
